Since 1997 Rotary Club Ghent organizes a competition for young talented musicians to help their start in professional live.
Different disciplines where programmed: vocal and/or instrumental soloists, chamber music, jazz. The 6th Edition (2006) welcomed not less then 107 participants from all over the country, belgians but also foreign students, as long as they study or have studied at a belgian institute.
This year Rotary chose the violoncelle for the competition. One of the reasons was the Commemoration of Adrien François Servais. So it is logique that the competition is called after him.
The Servais Society assists in the organization of the competition and offers the special Prize Servais for the best performance of the work(s) by Servais.
